Spring has sprung and Mrs Polly Mer and I have been sneezing our way through the makings of our very lovely cubby house. It is time to for us to start some interior decorating, grow the garden and spin another yarn or three.
We hope you can all come to see our show, opening night is Thursday 22 September at PACT Theatre in Erskineville. We look foward to your fine company. Tickets are $10 and the shows start at 6 pm, with shows every half hour after that. Come and yarn with Mungo the seahorse who has had a timely make over, Shawn the prawn and his fellow detritus feeders from Wellington, DJ Synthetic and crack some tunes at the plastic fantastic discotheque.

A green thneed
Today went very well at Hut 22. We had a plethora of guests which was wonderful.
Mrs Polly Mer and I arrived in Axl to our first guest who was aready there and waiting for us! We were very pleased to see David. It's the first time he's visited our crafternoons and he is keen to get involved with some netting. His previous experience making practice golf netting will no doubt come in very handy.
Tina turned up soon after and very kindly went and bought Mrs Polly Mer and I a lovely cup of coffee from the market stall. It was such a lovely sunny day it was good that Tina got out in the sunshine for a vitamin D hit. She then returned and continued cranking out green knitting that turned into a lovely thneed that fitted Mrs Polly Mer perfectly.
After a photoshoot with Wanda and a few other accessories, Mrs Polly Mer defrocked and continued cranking out a lovely piece of blue.
Matty also joined us and we had a bit of a show and tell, which as you can imagine was good fun. He then settled into sewing some knitted squares together to make a seat for one of the chairs. I think sewing lovely coloured squares together was quite therapeutic for him, having been out til 4 am!
Milly and Neoli also joined us and got to work on a sea snake and some seaweed. Sally the sea snake was born and also had a photo shoot. Lucky seaweed was Sally's preferred meal as she had plenty to eat from Neoli's knitted lengths.
And myself, I worked on a purple and orange knitted donation that I am turning into a sting ray. It's coming together quite nicely. I'm looking forward to finsihing it next week and finding out what it's name is.
happy knitting

Crank, knit and darn
Our crafternoon yesterday was very productive. Tina and I could have stayed for many more hours sipping on our cups of tea whilst having a yarn and knitting.
Tina really got the hang of Addi - our ciruclar knitting machine - by the end of the day. So much so she wants to come back again next week for some more. It is rather meditative, cranking Addi's handle and watching the wool (lovely donated balls of green) feed into the loop and become a knitted tube before your eyes.
It will make a lovely plant piece for the garden.
Before Tina arrived Helen popped in and darned of some of our blue knitted pieces. I was very pleased that someone took up the task of picking up those dropped stitches.
Helen graciously got to work and fixed them all up very nicely I must say.
She too wants to come back next week and I plan to get her started on measuring up the stools and making covers for them. Helen does prefer a stitch to a knit.
I hope some more of you can join us next Sunday.
Yours in wool until the next knit

Pensive expenses
Well this evening Mrs Polly Mer and I are sitting at Dr T's desk working on our budget. Budget. It's very moving. We'd prefer to be knitting, but we did dilly dally a little earlier on when we were sorting out some knitted pieces that landed in our laps - in a plastic bag and all - so here we are now looking at numbers and working out how we will make ends meet.
The magnificent Magpie is here too and we are enjoying being inside out of the rain - it's pissing down here in the inner west of Sydney.
Mrs Polly Mer is spinning a mean budget in excel and I must go now and help her untangle some threads.
all the best until our next yarn

Our first crafternoon
We had a lovely time this afternoon at hut 22 - our first crafternoon. Mrs Polly Mer and myself sat with the magnificent Magpie spinning yarn out of plastic bags. We chatted and spun and spun and chatted some more.
I knitted a few rows of plastic. The plastic yarn knits up wonderfully and I am very happy with the way things are turning out. I even began working some virtual designs for some new out fits for Mrs Polly Mer and myself.
We were very pleased when Celeste the psychic from Circ du Sew Long Ago arrived. She sat and joined us over a cup of tea and kindly shared some of her pattern secrets with us.
Celeste spent most of the time sewing a sparkling piece for her wardrobe - apparently she has a special engagement coming up in a couple of weeks and she wants to look her extra-exsensory best for it.
Ok, that's all from me for now, I must go and work on my designs.
I am looking forward to next Sunday.
yours in knitted earnest

Welcome to our KnitPiC site, the home of Mrs Polly Mer and Mrs Polly Ester, where we welcome you to join us to Knit Plastic in Crises as a way to save the world from drowning in plastic. We want to use knitting as a way to bring awareness to the plight of the oceans and other species on the planet who are disappearing as a result of plastic, pollution and global warming.
Here in our site, we encourage you to use your imagination and creativity to knit, recycle and refashion plastic and other discarded objects into items of wit, provocation and beauty, for the betterment of the world and your own self. We ask you to join us in our quest and spread the word.
We are currently working on an installation and performance for the Sydney Fringe in September. We are creating a knitted underwater installation, full of knitted marine life and sea creatures made from recycled materials (as much as possible - already we could not resist buying some beautiful wool) and are using carbon neutrality as a way to inform the aesthetic.
How can we reduce the carbon footprint of the show, bring awareness about environmental issues and look sexy at the same time? Well we plan to use lights and sound powered by renewable energies as well as create our costume and set out of recycled materials - this is where you come in:
So we are looking for creative contributions of knitted sea creatures - turtles, fish, crabs etc - from all over the world to add to our collection. It does not have to be big, in fact small and savvy is good. We will attach your name to the creature and it will go on display in the installation and become part of our set, where we will do 'submerged' performances for intimate audiences - first in a coffee shop and second in a mobile venue (caravan, submarine or pop-up performance pod)
